1- How to Join

To join the NIQ (NielsenIQ) Consumer Panel, fill out a quick online survey with details about your household to apply – it takes just a few minutes.

Who Can Join?

We welcome households of all types! Whether you live alone, with family, or roommates, your voice matters. We’re looking for a variety of households from different backgrounds to reflect today’s diverse shoppers.

How the Selection Works

After applying, we’ll review your profile to ensure we get a good mix of participants. If selected, you’ll get a welcome email with everything you need to start contributing using our app. Otherwise you are welcome to apply again some time later.

2 – First Steps 

Accessing the NIQ Panel app is simple and convenient. Follow these easy steps to get started.

  1. Submit Your Application: If you haven’t yet applied, click on the “Apply Now” button to complete a quick survey and submit your household’s application.
  2. Download the App: Once approval is in your email, head to the App Store or Google Play Store, search for the NIQ Panel app, and download it to your device.
  3. Log In: Open the app and log in using the email and/or phone number you’ve used to apply – and you’re ready to start contributing!

Connecting Multiple Devices

Everyone in your household can participate! Each member can download the app on their own device using the shared account. Be sure to scan every shopping trip of all your household. The more everyone participates, the more complete your household data is, and the more rewards you can earn.

Tutorial

The tutorial helps you quickly understand how the NIQ Consumer Panel App works. In just minutes, you’ll learn the features and how to easily submit your shopping trips step by step.

Virtual Mode

The Virtual Mode is your personal guide through the app, showing you how each feature works and why it matters. It’s designed to make navigating and scanning simple and intuitive.

Welcome Challenge

Test your skills for extra points! This quick quiz helps you practice scanning and understand what’s expected. Find it under the “Surveys” tab and get comfortable with your new role.

4 – Scanning


Scanning Basics

🛈 Scan shopping from all your household members, purchased online and locally.
🛈 Submit activity at least once a week.
🛈 Please record products that you have either brought home, taken to another residence or consumed outside the home.

Barcoded Items

🛈 Scan barcodes directly using app camera function.
🛈 Items that come in pack can be scanned both using pack barcode or individual items barcode. If pack, counting unit = number of packs. If item, counting unit = number of items.

Non-Barcoded Items

🛈 Select Item from Fresh Codes list.
🛈 If you can’t find your product by category, please use the search function by typing the item name.

5 – Surveys 

While some questions might feel personal, rest assured that all the data you provide is kept confidential. It’s aggregated and anonymized, meaning your responses are combined with others, so no individual can be identified. This helps us analyze shopping trends across different demographic groups, ensuring your input shapes the bigger picture. 

At NIQ Panel, we offer a variety of surveys designed to gather valuable insights, as we want to make sure your household profile reflects the broader demographics of German consumers.

Survey Types

1. Product Feedback Surveys: Share your thoughts on products you use daily.
2. Lifestyle Surveys: Let us know about your and your household preferences, habits, and trends.
3. Market Research Surveys: Help us understand broader market trends and consumer behavior.

Survey Eligibility

To participate in surveys, you must be an active member of the NIQ Panel and meet the criteria set for each survey. This ensures that we gather the most relevant insights from a diverse range of participants.

You are eligible to receive surveys based on the products you bought and the stores you visited. So remember to scan every item in the trip to maximize your opportunities for rewards!”

Frequency

You can expect to receive surveys regularly, but the frequency may vary based on your profile and engagement. We aim to send surveys that match your interests to keep it fun and relevant!

6 – Rewards

For the trips and products you share with us, you earn points that can be redeemed for vouchers.  Consistent trip submission unlocks streak bonuses. Staying engaged not only boosts your regular points, but it also helps you earn bonuses and sweepstake entries for consecutive weeks of activity! 

If you don’t shop every week, don’t worry! You can declare a non-shopping week in the app to maintain your streak and keep those points going. So, whether it’s a busy shopping week or a lighter one, there’s always a way to keep earning points! 

You are eligible to receive surveys based on the products you bought and the stores you visited. So remember to scan every item in the trip to maximize your opportunities for rewards!

Stock up your points with monthly lotteries! As our token of appreciation, you have the chance to win additional points every month and participate in a car raffle twice a year.

  • After 6 Months: Enter our lottery for a chance to win 23,000 extra points. 
  • After 1 Year: Be eligible for our car raffle and receive 1,000 points. 
  • After 2 Years: Celebrate with an additional 2,000 points for your loyalty.

How to redeem?

You can access the reward catalogue directly from the app. Our catalogue provides a range of vouchers from many popular brands and retailers. 

Accessing the Rewards Website

  1. Log into Your Account: Use your NIQ Panel credentials to log into the rewards website. You’ll need to select “First Time Login” and setup the password if it’s your first time accessing.
  2. Browse Rewards: Explore a range of rewards available. You can filter to find what interests you most!
  3. Redeem: Once you’ve found a reward you want, simply follow the instructions to redeem it. Your points will be deducted automatically, and you’ll receive your reward shortly after.
  4. Stay Updated: Check back often for new rewards and special promotions. We regularly update our offerings, so there’s always something exciting waiting for you!
